Managed to get a whole 36 hours in at Furzebray. 5 Takes, 4 fish (so quadrupling the previous efforts!), the biggest of which was a lake record at 29.08! All from the "Plan B" choice of swim too......

A week off with the kids

Posted 26-10-2009 at 18:42 by Frothey

Not sure that you can call it a week off though!
Had to go and pick up some maggots for a trip later in the week, so as my daughter had been nagging me that I haven't taken her fishing, I took them down to Stafford Moor for a couple of hours.

It was kept simple, a 5m whip for her, my stalking carp rod for him (though you can't keep him off the whip for long!) and a bit of groundbait. Jay took first dibs as i "hadn't set his rod up yet" and was quickly into the swing...

Posted 26-10-2009 at 07:00 by Peter Jacobs (Cooler Nights)

It has been a somewhat uninteresting month from a fishing point of view with a very low and 'sour' looking Hampshire Avon and Itchen.

The river Trout season is over on my syndicate stretch but the coarse fishing has just started but the river is in a bad condition; low water, no colour and little flow to speak of either.

a short river session

Posted 22-10-2009 at 17:56 by jonnie

took the fly rod out today without the waders, I only had an hour or so and I thought my roll casting could be improved a little anyhow!

I managed a trout and a nice grayling from a fast riffle, both falling to a size 14 black beadhead hares ear. I dropped a couple of fish, one of which was a decent grayling over 2lbs, a bit of a gutter but I'll be back for her mark my words

drawing a blank

Posted 22-10-2009 at 17:44 by jonnie

This monday I fished the aire at silsden bridge, targeting chub with flake and mash. Ive never had much experience with chub but and to my suprise I blanked, putting it down to my lack of knowledge but I will be back! The minnows were still around so I might leave it until the first frosts have cooled everything down to give it another go, I would love to get one!
