The meeting in Ipswich had an item on the agenda about the demise of the Flounder in the Stour and Orwell. After discussion the team were asked if there was anything that could be done to try and stop the poor old Flounder being used as bloody Pot Bait, the implementation of a bye law seems out of the question but the seeds of that idea are firmly sewn.
It would seem that although quite succesful the volentary code of practice that operates in the Stour and Orwell may, when the winter closure comes into force there may be some pressure put on those who think its alright to carry on digging in those closed areas and those people who are not back filling their holes, please back fill other wise we could loose the right to dig bait in those areas.
It is quite interesting to note that the M.C.Zs are being set up to protect "structure"I.E sandbanks certain rock and rare species of sea creatures but not fish?????so if damage to the enviroment is proved watch out and the Public consultation is fast approaching watch out for it in particular Reference Areas,
keep the faith tight lines cadius.
