Hello Rik,as usual anything that pulls my string. But i have heard of big roach ,mullet
and bream.I had a look down there around the Wick Ferry and Riversmeet Leisure centre area ,but could,nt find anyone fishing.I was low on time ,and did,nt want to leave my kit in the car ,so i did,nt walk far.Mainly just having some idea as where to fish and what approach to take would be a great help.

"but could,nt find anyone fishing"

Welcome to Christchurch harbour.

I spent quite a bit of time on there about 4 or 5 years ago and only ever saw one other angler and he was fly fishing for mullet.

If you go round from 2 rivers and carry on round the corner past the moored boats there is some fantastic fishing on the float for mixed bags.

Take your chesties and get in the river and trot down off the rod tip with maggot, feeding every trot down.
I've had 40 to 50lb bags of roach, dace, skimmers, chub, bass and mullet.
I also took a 5lb thin lipped on the tip down there.

From the ferry side, if you fish around the park area, then close to all the moored boats is very good for dace, especially if the river is up and coloured.
Above the bridge into perch pool and you will sometimes see the occasional large carp,
maybe,
I think,
possibly,
if you get my drift ;o)

Cannot add much to CA's advice but the mullet were easier to catch on harbour rag baited mullet spinners, use a float as a depth controller as necessary.
Up by what used to be Pontins used to be good as well.
Long time since I fished the area, you used to be able to hire a pulling boat for a fiver for the day.
