Default Pop ups only

I have just found a delightful 3 acre lake in the heart of my home town which has some stunning carp upto mid 20,s.
The problem is you cant use boilies but you can use pop ups. I think I know how to fish it but am wondering how would you fish it.

I think I'd be tempted to leave it unitl its a little warmer and then try a floater only approach to start with, dog biscuits and bread.
If it is in the town centre then there is a reasonable chance that they see a lot of bread thrown in for ducks and the like.

Floater fishing is also a far more active approach than sitting behind bite alarms too, and you don't need nearly so much gear to cart around either.

Just my view, others I'm sure will disagree.

Access to the water is by a locked gate, the lock number is on your book. I will try the floater aproach when it warms up, but for £20 a year I am going to start straight away.

Sounds just right for a zig - I've had some decent carp on half a 10mm cork ball this spring - pop ups should work as well.

PS What's wrong with pellets on the drop - get the 'puddle chucker' out.

Isn't a Pop Up a Boilie anyway ??

Try artificial bait - Corn etc

Zig Rigs do sound like a good way to go although i do suppose that it may depend on how deep the water is.

Drilled Pellets still work well.

Sweetcorn or Maize is still a firm favourite of many anglers, i think i would start there personally.

Peter, if you could PM Beaker the number on your book then I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Let's have a bit of clarification here, if you can't use boilies but can use pop ups, does that mean you can or can't use pop-up boilies?
My impression would be that you can't and it's just refering to pop-up corn & foam etc..

You omitted the aforementioned 'cork' my favourite pop up during the spring months.

I'd probably start with pellets of various sizes as freebies. For hookbait drill through a 14mm pellet, mesh it with fine stocking (tesco do an excellent cheapy stocking) then hair rig it on as normal on a sensible rig. To prevent the hook snagging the stocking on the cast I use a small pva stick with the hook pulled into the end of it. If you want it to pop up cut the pellet in half and replace the missing half in the stocking with a shaped piece of cork, with cork futhest away fron the hook.
