The built-in meter is good enough for most applications I think.
Mind you, my Viper Mk3 has only ever worked properly once, on other outings I've had all sorts of problems with it, ranging from unstable batteries to the port side jet motor only running at about 30% power, and cutting out for no apparent reason causing heart stopping moiments wondering if I'll ever get the damn thing back again.
Most of the time now it sits in my garage!
Usually I wouldn't recommend the Viper, to anyone t.b.h.
