Just bought some frozen John Baker frost n flood boilies and paste and I noticed on the packet that it says "once thawed do not re-freeze" is something I can ignore? I've re-froze boilies numerous times before and I suspect that part of it is a ploy to get me to use all my bait in one session, throw in any that is left over and then shell out more of my hard-earned to buy more. I re-freeze my cheesepaste and meat all the time and that just seems to get better the more times it has been defrosted!
Anyone got any ideas as to whether I should stick to this advice or should I just scrap it and carry on the same as I always have?

Why not just get out the amount you will want to use? You must have a rough idea as to the amount, then you wont be wasting any bait.

Ian, I will not have you foiling my plans with logic! ;o)
Your right of course although it will be a bit difficult to seperate out the paste.
Unfortunately I'm one of these people that always takes extra of everything "just in case"! I suppose I should bait up a few spots with the odd few that may be left over. I still can't see why re-freezing would be a problem though.

I'm happy re-freezing boilies once or twice. I can't tell any difference.

I do make sure they're in a decent state before they go back in the freezer though. If they'd spend a couple of hot days on the bank, in the middle of summer and not been stored in a freezer type bag then I be a little more wary.

Cheers lads. I was just thrown a bit cos i've never seen a warning on any of my other boilies. I think i'll just ignore it and see what happens.

some baits actually improve when theyve been defrosted and then refrozen a couple of times. Certainly flavoured luncheon meat does or so Ive found. I reckon youre right in your assumption ByNasty it does mean more dosh in the pockets of the boilie barons at the end of the day? Logically speaking apart from live fish and invertebrates I would imagine that any other food such as dead fish or waterfowl and the like are not usually 'fit for human consumption' before they break down enough for fish to nibble at, so a refrozen boile isn't likely to be a danger to the fishes palate.

I asked the same question of Frothey a long time ago but mine weren't milk based boilies. He said not a problem to refreeze if necessary but try only to take what you need, which is what I do now but I did try re-freezing some just to see, and I found the only affect it had was to make them softer, a bit like luncheon meat really.
