Hey guys, first post, thought id ask for some help!
Im 19 and have been fishing for about 10 years. For the first 8, i fished maggots and worms at my local canal for small fish, to put that into perspective, id never seen a tench - lol. For the last year or so i have been into bigger things, i spend nearly every free day in the summer taking carp from the top, and although i may take 65lb+ of carp per day, its kind of...boring. And it hurts to say that, as floating bread for carp is one of the best tactics ever created, or so i believe.
What i want is, now that me and my fishing buddies can drive, to visit somewhere "proper".
We have recently hit a few fisheries and although they have produced some big big bags, its just not the same.
Im from the North West, near Liverpool. What im after is somewhere that offers the opportunity to spend a weekend fishing. Somewhere i can catch Carp Bream and Tench a plenty. I know this is what EVERYONE wants, but its just to hard to find here in the North West.
Me and my friends are willing to take the weekend off and drive ANYWHERE in search of a good trip. Preferably slow flowing rivers with a good supply of fish, or more natural lakes/pits/ponds, not the man made type that just kinda gets boring.
If anyone from the midlands or even further down south knows of a venue like this, could you please supply me with information of previous trips to said locations and possibly places to stay or other fishing spots nearby where we could visit.
Much appreciated, and hope this is in the right section, if i bored you or wasted a few minutes of your life, i apologise!
Ady

I wouldn't look further than your local NW clubs mate, they all have waters that you are looking for, and many are really good value. Drop me an email if you like!

Adrian, (why do i feel like rocky when i say that name) anyway, why don't you have a go on the Rivers when the season opens again? I started River fishing about 5 months ago and i've loved every minute of it.There is some good venues in the NW as EC says.

Warrington Anglers and Lymm Anglers have plenty of decent waters in your area. Have a look on their websites, very comprehensive lists/sites. They'll probably cater for all your needs. As regards to rivers, you've got the Mersey, the Dee, the Weaver all within 30 mins drive from Liverpool, also the Severn is only an hour or so's drive, anywhere from Shrewsbury down stream(Ironbridge, Bridgenorth etc.)

Good suggestions Steve, I would also suggest Bay Malton Angling Club. If travelling really isn't an issue then a Birmingham Anglers Association card is an absolute bargain. It is worth the cost just for the stretches of the Teme alone. Both these clubs have websites.

Thought of another river, the Dane.
I can thoroughly recommend a BAA card(being a member myself......of the club that is!)Paul, I'd actually forgotten about Bay Malton, good call there. Cheshire Fishing in Tattenhall is supposed to be half decent, but I havent fished there meself only heard of other people.

Thanks for the replies guys!
Wendy, the Rocky thing haha, EVERYONE says that, infact, sometimes when i meet new people, (usually wierd people) they shout... ADRIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN...ha
EC, i will send you an email soon to see if you can help me out further, i have looked using google but the only fishing location sites i can find are outdated and of no real help!
I had not thought of fishing clubs yet, i always thought it would be something i got into when i could drive and getting places was not an issue...that time is upon me eh?!
Steve and Paul, thanks again. I have looked up a few places in lymm, i have some family there and im told there is some great spots nearby. I will have a proper look now and let you know how i get on. Tattenhall, i always thought looked good but i did not know it could be fished...unless im thinking of like a private pond i saw as a kid...aaaaanyway, i will check it out and let you know how i get on!

Hi Adrian, come down and have a go on the Thames. It's teeming with fish and if you want to do an overnighter in the summer you will easily get over 100lbs of fish trust me!
There is cracking fishing where you live, originally from up that way myself, but you can't beat getting away for a weekend! Plenty of free stretches in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Surrey you won't fail to catch, mail me if you want any details,
Cheers,
Neil

Neil, ive read and viewed so much on the Thames, the size and quanitity of the fish looks phenomenal! As long as there is a campsite or place to stay nearby i will definitley give it a go!
