as a 73 year young fisherman I read and hear about pellets and pellet paste. If the member were told that from tomorrow they could only use 4 types of pellet and 4 types of paste what would they choose?
I only ask this because I am at a loss as to which of each to purchase. I thank them in anticipation.

Dave, it depends on what species you want to target, where you are fishing and what the fish have become used to?
I fish mainly for Chub and Barbel and I only use halibut 14mm & 22mm pellets and 15mm halibut boilies. I make my own paste, from ground up Halibut pellets or I buy Halibut powder then add eggs, curry powder and some fish oil. I also buy bulk micro pellets which I use in PVA bags. Or if I make a ground bait I use scalded ewe pellets with micro pellets and or hemp added.

Halibut pellets will certainly catch carp Dave and I would choose them as one of my four.

If boilies are allowed on your water I would have 'The Source' by Dynamite Baits (I use their halibut pellets too).

Elips pellets are good, although I haven't used them myself I know many who do.

Finally I like Richworth Tutti Frutti boilies, I caught my personal best carp on one of these.

You could try some of the Mainline pellet range - I really like the strawberry hooker pellets as an alternative to the savoury flavours, they're wonderfully juicy - they come in small pots and cost a couple of quid but they do last very well and a few go a long way. As feed the corresponding mainline strawberry expander pellets, van den eynde feed pellets or strawberry 'Jellets' do the job rather well.

Coloured and flavoured sweetcorn might also be worth a try...

As I use quiet a lot of pellets and have tried a lot of the brand named bagged pellets. I now buy in bulk for hard pellets I buy skrettings 25kg at a time but why pay £2.99 for 900 grams when I can get 25kg for £25.
For expanders I favour omega floating pellets bought in 15kg bags.
For paste I make my own from a 50/50 mix of ground omega pellets and green swim stim groundbait to an equal amount of water.
I also generally have a couple of pots of the swim stim hookers in my box too.
