Hi all,

has anyone had a go with the Drennan Specialist 12ft (1 1/2lb)?

I've had a play in a shop with a reel on and it seems very well balanced and with a lot of power in the butt.
But does it actually handle well with a fish on the end!

Any help is useful

TA

Billy Clarke in Sheffield has a few Shimano specialist float rods left.these are 13ft and will easily beat carp up to around 7lb.it is on offer at about £80

sorry, forgot to mention what it's for.
I would mainly be using it for chub and (hopefully)occasional Barbel on the River Thames near Cirencester which is narrow in places and does have some snaggy swims.

Make any difference?

Have you tried the Fox range of Avon type rods, they look and feel good value for money. The 0.75lb test is stunning and I must get one, they range up to 1.5lb test and worth looking at. The 0.75lb test with both float and quiver tips can be found at around £100, probably cheaper if you look hard.
