Default Knotless Knot

I know it`s generally used for setting up hair rigs but does anyone use it just to tie a hook onto a hooklength? (ie without a loop)

Yes...seems to work fine though I've only done this on larger diameter hooklengths. Not had one let me down yet and I can't see why it ever should.

Again yes, have used it without any problems. I do however mainly use the Palomar Knot for flouro and also braid hook lengths if not incorporating a 'hair'. For mono I would usually go for the Domhoff knot.

I did cut the hair off of mine after an eel broke the loop, the hook untied quickly afterwards.
Not sure why though, could easily be the eel did more damage than I first thought

Works fine - with eyed hooks obviously.

While I'm sure it works fine I have plenty of trust in a palomar and it's just as simple to tie.

I use the knotless knot when chub fishing using the maggot feeder, short hooklength. When using small hooks 18's and 20's it has the effect of forming an acute angle similar to the bent hook rig that I feel may help with hooking.
All the best
Richard
