Default Hot to trot or what?

Think about it.
Which bank would you prefer to be on a river which eg. flowed left to right.
Being right handed I would prefer my rod in my right hand and have my left hand free to feed and wind my reel in a natural way. Therefore I would favour the left hand bank...
How about you?

If I'm trotting, the side with the main flow closest to the bank. Not fussed about the flow direction. I've never found either way a problem and I've never selected a swim with it in mind.

Never developed a preference I just fish the water in front of me. It certainly has never given me a problem, whatever way the water was flowing. When on a lake or a pond with a breeze or a good undertow you just get on with it.

I'd walk away and find another river that flowed right to left. Then I'd fish the bank I was standing on.

I wouldn’t really bother me although, for making life easy, I might take into consideration if I wanted to trot/feed the near bank or the far bank and if the answer is the far bank I’d stay there in the first place and treat it as the near bank...................... I think

Fair point Jerry, but what we want is a good selection of rivers, some flowing right to left and some flowing left to right. This is something that the ATr should be fighting for on our behalf! Also some rivers with an interesting near side bank and some with an interesting far side bank and when it is a interesting far side bank they should have the river narrowed so that we can easily reach it with a float.

Oh come on Ian, I also said I prefer making life easy - and besides the rain was warmer on the other side
