Default Specimen roach rod suggestions??

Hi everyone im new on here so firstly i hope your all well. Last year me and my brother had some success with gravel pit roach, the rods i were using were drennan series 7 1.5lb avons. Basically i thought they were way to overgunned for the roach,im thinking of getting a new pair of rods, and would be greatful for any suggestions.my general method is 30g feeders fished at approx 30 yds, though would like a rod that could handle heavier feeders and longer casting if needs be,but still retaining good playing action for roach.I was thinking about some general purpose medium feeder rods, maybe something from the new korum cs series range?any suggestions on rods for gravel pit roach would be greatly appreciated cheers Paul .

welcome to the forum Paul,
the Korum range are top notch for the money, of what I have seen of them they are quality, but then I am pro Preston so I am a little bias!!!!

Korum do good gear. I'd be surprised if the CS series didn't prove to be excellent rods.

My roach feeder rods are either a Grauvell LT or a TFG River & Stream. Both 11 footers and I'm not sure about chucking feeders miles as these are primarily river rods but lovely through actions. I'm with you...I think 1.5lb tc is way too much for roach.

Pity they stopped doing the Fox Kevlar specialist. I have 2, they have 0.75lb and 0.5lb top sections and also a 0.66lb section which accommodates x4 quiver tips from 0.5oz to 2oz. They do come up on eBay every so often. They are superb for roach and perch.

Agree 100% Shaun. Might also be worth looking for the Fox specialist. has a quiver plus avon top, the avon being rated at 1lb have one myself and have seen them used for roaching on a few pits.

I've got one too but no way is my rod a 1lb tc. Maybe they changed the spec at some point or I got a wrong un but my rod is way pokier than that.

Greys do a 1lb TC rod for around the £80.00p mark.

Never used it myself, but, generally grays don't make rubbish.

The Fox Specialist is excellent for your needs - very soft, ideal for either a light running leger or a helirig, no longer for sale new. Best roach float rod is the 14ft Dam New Dimension - very soft, absolutely superb for big roach.
