Fishing yesterday on the K&A canal I was obscured by tall reeds etc and wasn't visible to the people coming along. Overheard these comments.

Young milf to husband..." Why do they use those ridiculously long rods, whatever happened to a nice cane?"

Fit granny on a bike.. " If you want to fish the far bank why not fish from the other side?"

Bloke on a speeding mountain bike to his mate. " I don't get why they fish along here, what's wrong with the fishing lakes round here?"

Being a mad keen fisherman and a mad keen mountain biker I will never understand "hardcore mountain bikers" riding the towpaths, go find some hills
