CEMEX angling - Hooks Marsh and 70 Arce.
Hi all i havent been on here for a while so thought i would post a new thread.......
The LVRPA are currently holding a meeting reguarding CEMEX ANGLING's FISHERS GRN AND 70 ACRE COMPLEX, with bailiffs and club(s) comittee members deciding whether to "ruin" this fishery complex by making it all another consortium,(due to the fact that they are putting the fishery lease upto £21K for a season and as it stands CEMEX are not prepared to pay the lease), thus it will end up like, turnford consortium(up the road).. Hooks marsh, 70 acre lake, top lake, and the old r.lea at fishers grn, will all come on the same ticket and be controlled by something like 12 or more differnt clubs.....
Personally i can only see this being bad news for the complex which holds many double figure fish: tench to 13lb+, bream to 14lb+ a good head of double figure barbel the best i have seen on the bank here in recent years since the pollution (Silt Pockets) a few seasons back, being 15lb 12oz, large chub to 8lb+ and you get the picture, many large specimen fish....
I strongly feel this proposed consortium will have devestating effects on the fishery and that the negatives will truely outweigh the positives if this proposed consortium goes ahead...
I would be interested to know what are your views are on this matter, (esp), if you know the fishers grn complex and the already ruined Turnford Consortium....
tightlines, joe.

Hi Joe,
This has been bought up on here before. There are a number of clubs who want the waters, the problem is how to police the area if your a club.
I would rather have all the waters on one ticket, like it is with Cemex, and having it like Turnford would help protect the fish. This will also help keep down the cost of a ticket.
Turnford isn't a bad thing, the place would now be far worse off, I fished there for years before the take over. The fishing isn't as great as before, but where is, plus the place is clean and well policed.
What we don't want is the waters to close to Angling, if this happens I will have to carry on fishing them regardless.

I agree with Ray. I used to take a Fisher's Green ticket and have a Turnford ticket these days through the Civil Service AS. FG is (or always was - one of the reasons I stopped taking a ticket) very popular anyway, so I don't see how pressure on the river could increase by it's becoming a consortium. The lakes received little pressure when I used to fish there.

When the Turnford Consortium were in talks for the lakes I went to the meetings for the club I was in. At first I wasn't sure it was a good idea, but after talks and a few meetings our club joined at the start.
What I didn't see coming was that I would end up on the committee, I did so for a few years. Many of the rules for the lakes are set by the LVPA, not sure all are needed as much should be common sense, but thats the problem, many don't use common sense.
The fishers Green complex will be better off under a consortium in my veiw, one club wouldn't be able to handle this area on their own. I can't see there being any preesure on the lakes, under the cemex ticket there was hardly anyone on the lakes. What everyone has to remember is the area is also open to the public, and the LVPA will want the new club/clubs to run the complex with their rules in place, as well as the rules of the club/clubs.

I really don't see a problem with consortiums. Up here in the NW we got them, and have done for over 50 years. They called Associations or Federations. Usually they're made up of 10-100 small clubs, who could never on their own afford such waters. But as an Ass. or Fed. they can!
It's got to be the way to go to keep hold of waters for angling.

If it makes fishing more affordable for joe public but keeps the same high quality then i'm all for it.
Too many venues are run for thoughs that can afford to pay tree figures plus a year the idea is for more small clubs to join together and then maybe the likes of myself that can not afford to join £300+ pound a year syndicates to fish top waters . We can live in hope
