Hi folks,
I'm thinking of having a session on the Warrington stretch of the Dove this weekend. Ive never seen the river before and would like some general info on the stretch please.

Cheers all

Stu,
I have fished the stretch off the A38 heading towrds Litchfield.
Some nice chub in the stretch to the right of the island. thought i had my forst double barbel on there about 4 years ago but it turned out to be a mirror carp of 9lbs. Not heard of or caught any barbel off this stretch.
Sure you have got the right location Draycott Mill ???
Let us know how you get on anyway
Tight lines
Dave

i thought it was further down towards Long Eaton Stu, there is a stretch at Draycott there. Also, the bit you are going to fish at the Boars head is about 500 metres above where i had six out last Sunday....and lost six......(

plenty of chub as well. It is actually Draycott-in-the-Clay if I remember correctly. You park in the field just before the single file (traffic light )bridge.

Stu, ring up WAA they are quite good when it comes to info especially on 'distant' waters.

The section you refer to near the single-file bridge - is that the DVAA water. I'm thinking of joining since it looks a promising venue and they've got a few stillwater pools in the same area. By club standards it seems a bit pricey but when you think that the golf club I've just finished with charges over £700 a year, it puts it into perspective don't you think?

Dove valley have a lot of water in that area Taffy, upstream and down. all good.Ive been fishing upstream of there recently and had my biggest Dove barbel, but downstream they seem more plentiful.......then you get to where Graham is fishing and they are 'lined up and waiting'.....

You've just clinched it for me. I've got the envelope with my application all ready to go. We're off to France first thing in the morning for a fortnight - plenty of R & R and hopefully lots of good fishing. On the back of recent mag reports I've just taken delivery of one of the J.Wilson Avon?Quiver system rods and am looking forward to giving it a go. But your comments on the Dove are almost making me wish I was heading down the A515 in the morning instead of the A14. Still, for another day eh?
