My fishing partner and I have enjoyed weeks away over the past 12 years but he is finding it a bit difficult to get around with an arthritic hip. He loves rivers and trotting and we are looking for a good hotel/ B&B to fish something like the Wye or Avon or similar. Does anyone have a recommendation please?

Darryl, I have only fished it once and enjoyed it but I wouldn't know where to start looking for somewhere to stay. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Nigel,
The Hampshire Avon and the Stour offer the trotting enthusiast every possible challenge.
There are free and day ticket stretches together with places like Sandy Balls Camp Site that offer fishing on the doorstep of your accommodation.
Then there is of course the Royalty at Christchurch, where the well established B&B's really do cater for the angler, his tackle and his bait.

The Bull at Downton offers good accommodation at around 40 pounds per night, and has a rich angling history from the days of Walker and the Taylor brothers.

If you would like any further information on the area then drop me an e-mail, okay?

Which river Avon do you mean the Warks or the Hampshire? As for the Wye try the Red Lion at Bredwardine they've got 4 miles of bank to fish and its a lovely pub come hotel. Barbel chub and the odd grayling but cracking water, I believe you can drive along most of it as well so thats handy

Peter, thanks very much, see separate email.
Graham, we were thinking of the Hampshire Avon although from Yorkshire I wasn't looking forward to the drive. We looked at the Red Lion and it seemed like good value for money.
Darryl, I'll check out the Hotel at Whatstandwell - funnily enough that's where I've fished before. Up to that point I'd never caught a grayling and that day I caught nothing but grayling - funny thing fishing. Thanks all.
