hi, teaching my 7 year old to fly fish this year.
I was wondering if anyone else has done same and has any suggestions.

I have gotten him a light kit with 5 rating floating line and 8 foot 6 rod. I do have one query and this is leader length.

Should i reduce what i would call normal leader length (9ft) because his is smaller or is this not a factor i should consider?

We will be fishing loch and stillwater fishing for brown and rainbow and from bank and boat.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I'd start off with a leader length of 8ft 6ins, the length of the rod, and see how he gets on.

I'm pleased to hear it's the right length of leader.
