It's good to see some action but an average fine of £116 is pathetic.

Totally agree, derisive fines for licence dodgers!

And the fines don't get put back into angling either

It makes you wonder though. In over 50years fishing I can only recall my licence being checked about 3 times.

that's if the fines are ever paid, i think the last statistic was 57 per cent of fines are written off.

surely we should also be asking, why after all these years is there a need to check licenses, and could the resources be better spent in increasing the number of fish
