I have used those modern retractable walking poles as wading sticks when fly fishing in rivers. They're way cheaper than buying purpose-made wading sticks, but in Aldi this week they are selling these poles for £4.99 each, which is half the price of the cheapest ones that you can get in an anorak city like Ambleside in the Lake District. Got a couple of peaked caps at £1.49 each, some walking gaiters at £2.99 a pair. Walking boots are £17 or so. Well worth a look before the stuff runs out.

The last time Aldi did a similar thing the gear got decent reviews on outdoor sites.....not top notch, but servicable stuff.
