Ian, absolutely right mate, after he died the place went to the dogs!! currently there is no credibility to ''almost '' anything you may hear.

----------------

Phill, your post being the exception gives a glimmer of hope. Marsh did the honourable thing proving that it can be done. But bear in mind Marsh is a serious angler.

Some other prats have no fishing background- only driven by money. Rip off artists no iffs or butts.

Money, your spot on there Derek. The owner of that particular NE fishery was at one time a very outspoken ANTI ANGLING person. ££££'s have a strange affect on some people. Within three years a miracle happened, now it's her life's ambition to turn everyone into her kind of angler. Even experienced anglers have to sit through (in a cigarette smoke filled room) one of her 'induction' sessions. Personally I wouldn't be seen dead at the place.

John, would the fishery in question be an "Angelic" sort of place?

John, it's always the same mate, people in all endeavours start out with good intentions. Unfortunately along the way compromises creep in, morals are shelved, ethics go out of the window. Everything then revolves around money, and once that attitude takes hold, scruples are gone,to be replaced by let's take em for all we can. It's being repeated all over the country. I repeat---Rip offs- it makes me sick.

Derek, there's only one answer to this mate. We have to seek new waters, or forgotten waters........Rivers!

I went fishing last weekend and it was completely overgrown, the grass was two feet high, we got soaked walking through it and I thought why haven't they let the cows in yet to mow the lawn? No other anglers had been here!

Then it crossed my mind, if they thrive on neglect....................please keep the cows out!

I am so looking forward to October

A not so angelicfishery owner reported the manager of a big tackle retail outlet to his bosses for giving out membership application forms for my club. The fact thatmy club web site carries a large advert (unpaid for) and that I put one of the companies flyer's in each and every new membership and renewal went over their heads.

The same fishery owner also complained to the local daily newspaper editor and the BBCbecause the FREELANCE angling reporter(the other Dave Hall) stopped carrying reports of the fishery in his weekend newspaper and radio roundup reports.

Rivers in the main are as you say Steve, exempt from the above. I have as a matter of fact been doing what you suggest for what seems a lifetime, and can confirm you are spot on!!

Stillwaters however are a completely different kettle of fish, and it is here where most are ripped off.

John's post amongst many others, highlight just how pervasive this particular problem has become. And I predict it will become more so.

Sharks on Terra Firma!!
