Default Lure rod advice needed please

I was in my local secondhand shop today, they sell loads of fishing tackle and amongst the rods I found a MASTERLINE JOHN WILSON WANDERER STALKER LURE ROD 9 FEET.
Its likely I'll only use this on small pools and my local canal spinning for Pike.
Whats your thoughts on these rods and will one be suitable for my needs?

Thanks Nathan

I didn't notice a casting weight just a line weight of between 8 and 15lb.

I bought one of these rods about eight or nine years. I used it for pike lure fishing on rivers. It casts lures up to about 40 or 50 gms, (say 1.5 oz) and I liked it.

It came to a sticky end on the Swale. The spinner got stuck in bankside reeds so I pulled hard to release it. The spinner rocketed back, hit the rod about 6 inches below the top ring, and sliced the top section in two.

It's a rod worth buying for lure fishing. It's got a medium action and from memory I think the test curve might have been around 2lb. I think it's a rod for pike rather than the smaller species such as perch or trout.

For a tenner I thought I'd give it a go so I've been and bought it this morning.

Most lures seem to cost more than £10 so as long as you get pleasure using it, it's an absolute bargain.
