Default Spinning Rods

I am looking to buy a travel spinning rod, they come in two casting weights....10-30g and 30-80g. Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice in terms of which one to get. Would the heavier one be able to cast lighter lures better than say, the lighter one cast heavier lures? hope that makes sense haha

Cheers

Are the waters you are intending to fish pits or canals or rivers or ponds etc etc

Mixed to be honest with you, probably pits and canals more than the river

Yes it makes sense.

I would go for the heavier rod. It will cast lighter lures better than the light rod will cast heavier lures and if you are targetting pike the heavier rod will be more suitable under most circumstances. A 30g lure is not that big or heavy, so to limit yourself to smaller lures would limit your options quite significantly.

good Luck !
