Last night I decided to go shore fishing for a change....the rivers are too flooded and I just couldn't face a commercial.

I met up with a few friends to fish from a Town Quay in Southampton which produces all sorts of species, maybe not the biggest ones but at least a good varrious of different species.

We have a yearly species hunt on my local forum, so it was time for me to get a few saltwater fish.

We had a 10 hour night session, the weather was dry but it was blowing a huli. The only fish out playing were pouting and whiting and a few schoolie bass.

Not the most exciting catch but beats sitting at home sulking about the weather

The rivers are up and down like me auntie Kathleens belly grabbers in Yorkshire Claudia.

Very frustrating at this time of year!.

I do go to a commercial on the odd occasion, nothing more than to try new skills, and out of desperation with the rivers, but also I don't like them at all.

Guess with the rivers its all part of the game, and if you can hit it right, it can be very good, of course its snow on the hills with more FREEZING water pouring down from the Dales pronto!

All being well I am off chubing tomorrow evening, HOPEFULLY I may just catch the tale end of this milder streak.

Respects for getting out and doing a bit!....the sea air is brilliant, always gives me a good appetite, and the urge to trash a donkey up Skegness beach and pretend I am a 7st jockey in the National!

I love sea fishing, the fresh air knocks me out and makes me sleep for days....better than any sleeping pills

"We have a yearly species hunt on my local forum, so it was time for me to get a few saltwater fish."

Claudia doesn't mention I'm her partner in the Species Race and I'm TOTALLY RELYING on her to provide the lion's share of points with her saltwater variations!

After all, my last three trips have resulted in total blanks.

Go girl, go!

Claudia posted at "20/01/08 22:48" - "Last night I decided to go shore fishing for a change."

And again at "20/01/08 23:08" - "the fresh air knocks me out and makes me sleep for days."

The why aren't you tucked up in bed snoring like little porker then, Claudia?

Well done though, very brave of you and I'm full of admiration. Personally, I find the bed a better option at this time of year. Perhaps that's why I catch nowt!
