Unhappy Aluminium rod pod- whats available?

I have looked at the various pods available but all are far too complicated for what I want.

I need a simple, lightweight pod for use on HARD GROUND with ONE rod which could be a carp rod or just as easily a float rod!!
Yes, adjustable legs and body length BUT I don't need anything more than that.

I've seen a picture of the Daiwa 'Mission aluminium rod pod' and it looks a possibility but i would need to see one unless an FM'er can tell me if its suitable.....

My old Fox jobbie gave up today and I need an quick replacement-pronto!!

Any suggestions???

ps I do use bank sticks as well but a pod is invaluable and I carry mine at all times...

thanks

I have one like this XQMAX LIGHTWIGHT ALUMINIUM 3 FISHING ROD POD STAND | eBay

Mine was £15 including P&P a couple of years ago. I only use it for one rod and cut down the front and rear posts to make the rod sit lower to the ground. If the black plastic bits come loose, a bit of super glue (10 tubes for a pound from poundland) fixes 'em good. It is light and does what it says on the tin.

Phew!!

I was begining to think I was the only person who uses a lightweight pod so thanks for your response Saglout!!!

I will have a look on ebay again but with items such as this I like to at least have alook at them before buying or get some feedback, hence this post....

The XOMAX looks pretty good though and cheap as chips..!

Tee-Cee I have the Fox Classic that I still use on platforms

and a "broken" one for spares, one of the legs snapped at the pin.

What part do you need?

Hi Fred,

My pod is a Fox Warrior and a few years old now. Two of the four spring loaded arms have broken at the pin (on which the arms rotate) and it seems to me this may well be fatigue from the constant opening and closing of the arms.

I hate to throw out anything which is simple and reliable but i feel its time to buy a new one and herein lies the problem-seeing one before you buy rather than take a punt on Ebay!!

Sagalout suggested a Xenon (see above) and I may ahve to go for this to tie me over until I can get round the tackle shops.................I've checked three, including the well stocked Hillingdon tacle centre, online but they only have the all singing, all dancing jobbies which are OTT for me...

Thanks for the offer though.........................I suppose its unlikely your Fox Classic would have similar swing arms to the Warrior????

I didn't think there was a brand/make on this (when I bought mine there were several selling them on ebay, all the same pod), I thought it was a generic cheap ali pod. The "hinges" are 6mm bolts, it all works well, robust, light and fast to set up. I have been very impressed with mine, in fact the father in law has nicked it, he is 84 and wanted a light pod.

Here's the same thing again, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOWLINGS-S...item2eb69687e2
