Youngs Purist centepin problem

I have tried removing the spool from my centrepin, I haven't used it for a few years, it's in very good condition, I know that to remove it, I pull down on one of the spokes/springs but it doesn't budge, any ideas why this is? I need to give it a clean.
I have removed the pin.

Sorted, happy days, finally removed it after a lot of persuasion, (arthritis in my thumb) 47 second spin, never done that when it was brand new.

Removed the spindle/spring and gave that a clean too, WD'd then some of that 151 multi-purpose oil I've had for about fifteen years....a vintage oil.
