Hi all,
I inherited a large number of rods from my father a number of years ago. I had some good success selling some on eBay but I kept all of the custom made ones, these have my father's name on the rods. After having them sat around my house for a while, now is the time to do something with them. Although, eBay was good to me, I had loads of issues posting the previous ones, my local post office tried to refuse taking them in rod tubes as they were too long. Luckily I persuaded them but I am not sure I would get away with it again.
Therefore the advice I seek is:
Does anyone know any recommended secondhand fishing gear shops in the Somerset area?
Can anyone recommend any courier for eBay sales other than Royal Mail / Parcel Force?
Will the fact the rods are customised with my dad's name affect their value?
Are the rods listed below any good these days?
From the limited knowledge I have and internet research I have done, it seems that these rods were top quality when purchased. My father was much more of a collector than a fisherman, mainly as he moved back to London, so most of these have never seen the water. The rods I have are:
Bruce and Walker Hexagraph 11'6" Avon 1.5lb TC
Bruce and Walker Hexagraph 12' Tench Special 1.5lb TC
Harrison Advanced Rod 12' Avon
Carol McManus 12' Conoflex Kevlar Pike 4lb TC
Simpsons of Turnford, Herts 12' Esox Special Pike
Simpsons of Turnford, Herts 12' Specialist Tench
Tony Fordham 12' Sportex Carbon Kevlar 1.5lb TC
Tony Miles Scottie Supreme Range 12' 6" Tench Float built by Sharpes Rods
Tony Miles Scottie Supreme Range 13' D.D Pike 3lb TC built by Sharpes Rods
Ashpoles of Islington 12' Storm Lite 2lb 2oz TC (poss Vic Gibson)
Ashpoles of Islington 12' Cyclone Lite 1lb 6oz TC (poss Vic Gibson)
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks a lot in advance.
