Default Drennan Specimen Landing Net Handle

Have acquired one of these at a knock down price! Knock down cos the twist -lock don't seem to work. I remember some reviews and tips in our past incarnations reflecting on this problem and how to solve it. I am about to flood it with WD40, Pole Lubes and traditional oaths used for stuck things.

Before I do it, myself and /or the vendor an injury are there further tips?

hmm...I saw the comments in the reviews too. So, unlike you, I took notice of them and bought myself a Korum landing net handle. It's brilliant. No problems with it at all. A please to use. It's landed me lots of nice fish this season so far. And when I drive home I don't have to stick it out of the back window cos it's stuck.

Things would have probably been different for me if I'd ignored the reviews and bought a Drennan twist lock and stick thingy. Furhtermore, becasue I didn't by one I didn't need to read the threads on how to get them unstuck, so I can't help you.

Try a hair dryer on the joint for a bit. If you use WD40 you might have a problem getting it to lock again.

I bought a Korum Power stick. It is 1.8m and has a push on extension to take it to 2.7m.

Thank you for your kind and helpful reply Mr. Corker.

I look forward to demonstrating effective methods for inserting, gripping twisting and locking when we next enjoy a route march on the Ribble or place our vehicles with their "steal his next door" signs at the Tickled Trout.

Korum Power stick eh...I'll just google that......

After repairing said handle try lubricating with candle wax.

The only reason it will have seemingly stuck is that the thread/cam inside has become dirty and doesn't rotate as it should. Take the inner carbon handle part out, unscrew the plastic cam and take it off, clean the aluminium thread, apply some pole lube or similar and screw the cam back on but NOT ALL THE WAY (otherwise it will expand and then the inner won't fit back into the outer). Then it works fine.

It has moving parts. They sometimes need cleaning & maintainence. It's normal.

Thanks to Robert and Richox12

Have got it working and well greased with WD 40 etc. Clearly it needs TLC and I'll dig out the pole lube and the boxes of candles.

Used it last night to land chub and barbel up to 5lb 4oz ( the barbel not the chub)

Mr. Corker it is working...and a fine piece of equipment it is...the key is keeping the insert well lubricated.

I have this net pole and experienced the same issue.

It's a great net pole but needs a little service once or twice a season.

Take the net apart and clean any residue off the spindle and plastic bit.

Let it dry then give a little spray with wd40.

Will be as good as new.
