Barbel Society Research and Conservation Auction

The Barbel Society is pleased to announce that the second online Research and Conservation Auction is about to commence.

Last year’s auction raised over five thousand pounds, which has already been committed to barbel stocking and river habitat improvement projects on the Thames, Teme and Dorset Stour, in conjunction with the regional EA Fisheries Officers.

Donations of prizes for the auction have come from names like Chris Yates, who has donated one of his old reels, Phil Smith, Bob Church, Steve Pope, Fred Crouch, Pete Reading and Stef Horak and others are donating guiding days. Tackle companies such as Drennan, Daiwa, Hardy Greys, Bruce and Walker, Masterline, Dynamite, Wychwood, Gold Label, Cotswold Aquarius, Free Spirit and Peregrine Rods have generously donated rods and tackle.

We hope to exceed last year’s total, and even more items are still expected to be donated this year.

The auction is open to Barbel Society members only, but others may make bids via BS members acting on their behalf.
