Overview by Manufacturer

No angler should call themselves an angler if they knowingly return a fish with visible mouth or body damage without doing something to help that fish.

Korda Carp Care Kit

We all put hooks in fish and we all see fish on the bank that have been damaged through previous captures or by nature. The ‘Carp care kit’ is a must have item for any angler and was designed by Thinking Anglers.

As a result Korda have taken it on in their range to ensure that it is distributed into every angler’s tackle box. It comes complete with two bottles (MOUTH & BODY). The ‘Mouth’ bottle covers any cuts or damage in that area with the ‘Body’ bottle proving essential to treat, sores, cuts and other visible damage.

This product really does work and should be promoted as an essential item in any anglers tackle box. With just a smear of treatment on any visible injury, you’re giving that fish the best possible chance of recovery.

Verdict

Calling this little package of fish treatment a Carp Care Kit is a shame really, for it may put off other species anglers from using it. I hope not, as the more products we have that take care of fish, and show the world that we care, can’t be a bad thing.

I’ve used it on both carp and barbel on both body and mouth where sores were visible. I’d like to say the treatment was a resounding success, but I haven’t caught the same fish again to see if the sores had healed. But I have no reason at all to doubt that both treatments will do the job they’re intended to do. Korda are not the type of company to put their reputation on the line with product that hasn’t been tested thoroughly.

Nor do I know what the products contain, but I can tell you that they do smell very ‘medical’, the body treatment being bright blue and the mouth treatment a bright orange, not unlike iodine.

The thing is, not only was I confident that the fish I caught and treated would be better for the experience, I felt a lot better myself that I’d returned them to the water in better condition than before I’d caught them.
