Rivers Week is a series of events for volunteers organised by the Environment Agency’s Fisheries Team and supported by experts from the Wild Trout Trust. After commencing work on the River Whitewater, as detailed in Martin Salter’s recent blog, the team moved to a very different location – the River Blackwater near Farnborough in north Hampshire.

The river here was heavily modified some years ago to accommodate a major road development and the team used local materials to restore natural features in the river and provide improved habitat for fish and wildlife. The current work builds on the great work done for years by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and other local groups.
