The Keith Moors' Knot

THE 'KEITH MOORS' KNOT

A few people have asked how to attach mainline to leadcore. I think the Keith Moors' Knot is the safest and the strongest way of doing it. It's also a doddle when you get the hang of it and not half as complicated as it might look!

Step 1 - Strip back an inch or so of leadcore. I like to just touch the end with a flame to stop any potential unravelling, but be careful not to create a blob

Step 2 - Pull a loop of the mainline through the leadcore

Step 3 - Pass the leadcore through the bottom of the loop

Step 4 - Pass the leadcore twice over………

Step 5 - ……………..and through the top of the loop

Step 6 - Moisten and pull tight

If you push the outer of the leadcore down a bit, you can trim off the tag end of the mainline and it will stay within the leadcore's outer, leaving nothing to potentially snag.

Simple as that!

About the Rigs Page

The Rigs Page is a library of features to illustrate all those rigs that will be useful to both beginners and experienced anglers.

The rigs can be extremely simple and well known, or very complicated and little known, it doesn't matter providing they make some kind of sense and have a really practical application.

It could be a standard running leger rig that a beginner will appreciate seeing in pictures, or a very complicated anti-eject carp rig that the experienced carp angler would like to see.

If you wish to contribute a rig to this section please remember that the emphasis is on illustration rather than words. Good line drawings are fine in the absence of photographs. Please send to graham@fishingmagic.com
