Fishers On The Green Roads

Well known angler Professor Barrie Rickards is famous in particular for the book 'Fishing For Big Pike' he co-authored with the late Ray Webb. Now he ventures into another kind of book that is only indirectly to do with fishing - 'Fishers On The Green Roads'.

This evocative novel is about young people growing up in the Ridings of Yorkshire in the years following the Second World War. It deals with their play, their sport, their humour and pathos, their schooling and their unfettered exploration, characteristic of the day, of the countryside.

Lord St. John of Fawsley writes: "A very readable, down-to-earth story of a time of great innocence".

The book is brilliantly illustrated by the artist Rebecca Freear. All copies will be signed by the author.

If you would like to receive information about this book immediately prior to publication in the summer of 2002, please write to the author R.B. Rickards, Emmanuel College, Cambridge CB2 3AP or email him at wagreen@esc.cam.ac.uk
