One of the main considerations when choosing a trolley, or barrow as they're also known, is if it's got one wheel or two. The advantage of one wheel is that you are half as likely to have to wheel it over bumps. And that's not such a facetious observation as it may seem, for when you have to wheel a trolley over rough ground it makes a big difference when you have only one wheel bumping its way across rather than two.
A one-wheel trolley is also easier to steer and manoeuvre through tight spots.
But that's where the advantages stop.
Two wheels equals stability. No matter how strong you are, when you're coming away from an all night session and you're tired, it's so easy to tip the lot up when you hit one of those bumps. Such an accident causes you a great deal of pain when you have to load up again, and, may even break some of your valuable tackle.
It doesn't end there. Two wheels also means you don't have to seek that point of balance all the time. Okay, that's not difficult when you're on reasonably flat and smooth ground, but when you're on bumpy ground (more usual anyway when fishing) keeping the barrow balanced can be decidedly dodgy.
Two wheels means that all your effort goes into lifting and pushing - there is no balancing act to master as well.
The Fox Elite Trolley has two pneumatic wheels that ride bumpy and muddy ground quite well. The rear legs fold out of the way so that they don't catch on the ground when you're mobile, but can be easily dropped down so that you can allow the trolley to sit on them while you take a rest whenever you're on a long hike to a distant swim.
The carrying capacity of the barrow is well up to taking a huge load. When the side arms are fully extended it offers a massive load space of 1030mm x 850mm.
Equally important is the fact that it folds down, without the need for any dismantling, to 1200mm x 800mm, which means it will fit into most car boots.
The trolley is supplied with two adjustable elasticated straps which hook securely over the extending side arms. A small elasticated strap is permanently in position to hold up the folding legs. The carrying handles are soft and rubberised giving a firm and comfortable grip.
Terrific carrying capacity, which will be a real boon to those anglers who take everything and the kitchen sink and don't want to make more than one journey. Or for two angler's gear who can then take it in turns to push it.
The trolley is very stable when being pushed and long enough so that the load can be distributed to minimise the weight you need to lift.
Some anglers will prefer the one-wheel type, but for those who prefer two wheels this Fox Elite trolley is one of the best.
