Being a regular subscriber to Coarse Fisherman magazine, each year we are offered a gift for taking out the subscription and it costs just £5 for the postage. Last year I received the Chub Rova tackle/camera bag and I was absolutely delighted with it. Perfectly sized and the quality is spot on, but what about a quiver to match to hold my rods and other bits in? There didn't seem to be one available so I wrote to Chub and put forward a design and some recommendations, which they said they would look at.

Last week I received the finished product, the Chub Rova Quiver. Some of my ideas have been incorporated into the design, I'm pleased to say, but this could just be coincidence and that Chub were thinking along these lines anyway. Perhaps a bit of both, but the final result is a very pleasing, well-designed quiver.

There's a large flapped pocket on the front for banksticks and to the side an open top pocket for either a landing net or I sometimes want to take a golf umbrella just in case of a shower or two. Laugh if you like, it won't be long before some tackle manufacturer comes up with an all green model and a means of fixing it to most chairs. Above the bankstick pocket is a small zipped pocket for rodrests, a reel or buzzers, whatever you want. This small pocket and net (or golf umbrella) pouch were two of my requests.

On the opposite side, the quiver will take three made-up rods with pockets at the bottom to hold the butts and at the top, you can use either the Velcro straps or there are 'D' rings to which can be attached the clips on their Rova Rod Bands. There are also two further buckled straps, presumably to provide extra security for your rods. A padded handle grip and fully padded shoulder strap with an anti-slip patch on the inside complete the outer fittings.

The inside of the main compartment is - voluminous - look at the picture. It will take 8 rod tubes, a rolled up unhooking mat, or many types of bivvy or shelter, if that's what you want. Don't forget to leave a little space for the landing net handle on the inside or if you only take two made-up rods, you can use the third external pocket and Velcro straps.

Given all of this, the Rova is a terrific value-for-money piece of luggage that will suit many carpers and pikers who like to take their rods in a lightweight piece of luggage.
