Vacuvin Vacuum Coffee Saver/Pellet Pump

VACUVIN VACUUM COFFEE SAVER/PELLET PUMP
Price: £8.97

A container normally used for preserving the flavour and aroma of ground coffee has become the surprise 'must-have' accessory of the summer for many of Britain's anglers, judging by recent sales peaks on Amazon.co.uk.

And it's not because they're swapping their flask of tea for a cappuccino. It's been discovered that the Vacuvin Vacuum Coffee Saver works as the perfect 'Pellet Pump' - a tool conventionally found in angler's fishing tackle for making bait.

Traditionally the pellet making process meant hours of soaking and allowing different 'cooking' times for each different type of bait. But with a Vacuvin Vacuum Coffee Saver the soaking process can be completed in a just a few minutes!

It's become such a cult product throughout the fishing world that Amazon.co.uk has seen a sales uplift of 1024% in the last two months.

Adi Himpson, Kitchen and Home Editor at Amazon.co.uk commented: “In the past few months we've noticed an unusually high surge in sales for this product, so after a bit of investigation internally we were really surprised to discover it was being used by fishermen as well as coffee lovers!”

The Vacuvin Vacuum Coffee Saver with pump is available on Amazon.co.uk priced £8.97.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

I've used the pellet pumps designed for anglers and I can honestly say that this one, although primarily designed for keeping coffee fresh, is one hell of a lot better. It is a much better quality product and is less than half the price of the angling dedicated ones. It's large too, which means you can do a decent quantity of pellets in one go.

I used the Vacuvin to treat a couple of handfuls of 11mm Expander pellets to make them sink, and to imbue them with my own choice of flavour. You simply put the dry pellets in the container, almost fill the container with flavoured water, drop the top on and then the pump. Once you start sucking the air out the top seals to the container and the air is sucked out of the pellets, and replaced with the flavoured water.

To allow air to enter again you simply squeeze the special valve on the lid and the lid can be lifted off.

What I do then is dab the excess water away and seal the pellets in a small container. A bait soak pot is ideal. And that way you can add a little more of the flavour of your choice.

I can't fault the product for quality, performance and price and therefore it gets a rare and well deserved 10 out of 10.

Is it me? Why do I feel I cannot trust this Amazon company? My son has bought loads of stuff through them and I buy from several sites off the net, but I get very nervous with Amazon.

It's a good write-up Graham and the product looks very good. I want one, but I'm scared to click that final "accept" button. Will someone please convince me Amazon is a pukka company and not out to rip me off.
