FISHINGmagic VERDICT

This rucksack from Korum has become my rucksack of choice for river fishing. It is comfortable to carry, with the choice of using the zip-away waist strap, it holds everything I need for a river fishing session, and does away with the need for a tackle box.

I hope the pictures speak for themselves, and can only add that the rucksack is excellent quality and the design exactly what I have been looking for. The drop-down front panel with the accessory boxes makes life very easy indeed. The solid plastic base allows the rucksack to stand upright and the fact that the base carries a set of bait boxes in a separate compartment to clothing and food is good thinking.

As you can see in the pictures I don't always use the insulated bait compartment for carrying bait, not in winter anyhow, but the option is there for when I need it. If I don't put bait in there it will help to keep refreshments cool and fresh in summer.

The only minor gripe I have is that the bait boxes are not brilliant, the lids being a pain in the proverbial to put back on. But that bottom compartment will hold other bait boxes if you so choose.

Overall, if this rucksack is the right size for you there is a very good chance indeed that it will suit your needs. The quality is really good and the design, at least as far as serving my needs, is spot-on.

The price too, considering the excellent accessory boxes that are part of the package, is exceptionally good value for money.

This is well worth considering even though I'm looking increasingly like some sort of Korum fan boy on the bank. I've had the bait and tackle bag and the rod holdall for 12 months now. Both come up looking brand new after a quick scrub and are amazingly hard wearing. I've been snug inside their winter clothing range for several months and there's not a tear in sight despite regularly tiptoeing through the brambles. The accessory chair has proved its worth several times over and recently added bits such as wheels make it even more useful so good luck to Korum who keep turning out intelligently designed and thoughtful kit.

I can't get my bait box lids on either though and the big one ended up as a greenhouse pot holder.

This fishing bag and chair is a solution to a common angling problem; taking too much tackle to the bankside, most of which you'll never use but carry, 'just in case'.
