FishingMagic Verdict |
 |
 |
|
This is a top quality barbel rod with three plain tops; no quivertips, just three proper barbel tops that will cover you for a great range of barbel fishing situations, no matter if it's fishing for groups of smaller barbel, smaller groups of bigger barbel, or that one big fish that lies close to snags.
It's the most expensive rod in the group but make no mistake, you're buying the equivalent of three very good barbel rods.
The unusually shaped reel fitting may look slightly odd but that won't matter to you when you get a grip of it as it will probably the most comfortable reel fitting you've ever wrapped your hand round.
All three sections have an excellent action and it is a good all round rod that looks good and feels good. The price is actually very reasonable considering you're getting the equivalent of three good barbel rods. Taking everything into consideration: quality of build, excellent handle, nice action on all three sections, three rods in one, and the price, this rod is awarded 'Editor's Choice'.

| Posted: 22/11/06 18:48:00 00 | Hmm..... Can't argue with the verdicts on the rods, but any Barbel angler who doesn't have a rod with a quiver tip is going to lose out in certain situations.
Quiver tips are very useful for fishing upstream and for fishing close in in times of low flow. OK if you want to fish standard carpbelling tactics go ahead, but at least give yourself some options!
We're in danger of becoming identikit specimen anglers with no difference in approach between Carp, Barbel and Pike anglers. Bring back the quiver tip: you know it makes sense! |
