Take a Break in Dumfries & Galloway

Rich in rivers, lochs and reservoirs and the beautiful Solway coast just a stone's throw away means Dumfries & Galloway is the ideal place for those who enjoy a spot of fishing. Set in the heart of the region, Aston Hotel Dumfries has just launched a special package with the fishing enthusiast in mind, offering a two night stay from April to October for only £119.

Whether the preference is river, sea or loch fishing, beginners and seasoned anglers alike will be spoilt for choice by the great selection of places to fish and fish to catch. Major rivers such as the Esk, Annan, Nith, Cree, Dee and Bladenoch all flow through the region providing superb river fishing for salmon, sea trout and trout, as well as offering excellent opportunities for coarse fishing and the chance to catch roach, tench, perch or bream to name but a few.

Guests to the area who want to learn how to get started with fishing or are looking to improve their technique can easily arrange expert tuition. The nearby Broom Fisheries in Annan can organise lessons in fly casting and experts are always on hand to provide advice to fellow anglers. If all that is not enough to attract visitors then there is always the attraction of simply whiling away the hours in the idyllic and stunning surroundings Dumfries and Galloway is renowned for.

Returning to the 71-bedroom Aston Hotel Dumfries will be a welcomed retreat after a day on the river banks. Set within the magnificent grounds of the Crichton Estate, the hotel offers premium accommodation without the associated price tag and from April through to October is offering anglers:

  • Stay two nights for only £119
  • Stay three nights for only £179
  • Stay four nights for only £238
All prices include a three course dinner and a full Scottish buffet breakfast, and are based on two people sharing a standard room. A packed lunch for two days is included in the price for those staying three nights or more at the hotel.

Dumfries and Galloway offer visitors to the area some of the best fishing available in Scotland. Many of the rivers have been reporting a record number of catches so if ever there was an excuse needed to get out and fish, Aston Hotel Dumfries has made it easy by providing a winning combination of superior accommodation in an excellent location.

For more information or to book a fishing break please call the Aston Hotel Dumfries on 01387 272 410 or email enquiries@astonhoteldumfries.co.uk
