Optical technology boost anglers' performance

Optical technology advances boost anglers' performance

A new product launched at opticians this spring will solve the problem of anglers and other sports enthusiasts who find that using sunglasses in sunny weather detracts from their performance. A new range of polarising sunglasses which use up to the minute optical technology, will be available from opticians across the country for the first time this month.

Part of the new KO Shades collection exclusively available from British based company Leicester Optical Ltd, the 'seriously sporty' range has been specially designed to enhance performance in a range of activities as well as on the fairway. Because the lenses are photochromic as well as polarised, this makes them ideal for any outdoor activity which requires precision vision. The lenses can be used for a wide variety of sports from fishing and golf, through to cycling and driving.

Because the lenses are available in a choice of four colours: yellow, brown, grey and purple, the wearer can choose the colour most suitable for each specific activity.

“In my experience, real sports fanatics may have a variety of colours which they can use for different sports,” comments Mike Keily, Managing Director of distributors Leicester Optical Ltd. “Golfers and marksmen should use purple lenses which increase contrast. Wearing brown lenses improves perception of depth and acuity, which makes this colour most appropriate for driving, fishing or skiing. In fact, these sunglasses will actually help people to improve their performance and precision in a whole range of activities.”

The 'seriously sporty' range is accompanied by the 'fun fashion' collection: photochromic lenses which react instantly on exposure to sunlight, transforming into brightly coloured sunglasses. Available as plano and prescription single vision and progressive lenses, the range can be promoted in each opticians by the use of an attractive display stand plus point of sale leaflets for patients.
