Manufacturer's Overview

High quality rolling barrel swivels fitted with Safe-lok links. The ultimate in safety.

Designed to lock positively and not open under pressure, these links are essential when connecting traces to the mainline.

Verdict

These Safe-Lok Swivels are what I have used for some years now. I have absolute faith in them. Well, insofar as they are metal and you always have to remember that every time you open and close them you are subjecting the metal to stress. After so many openings and closings the metal can get brittle, it stands to reason, and then they will eventually break. Frankly though, these are far, far better than the nearest comparative brand.

However, I have a policy whereby I change them after a few trips depending on how many times I've changed lures, but long before they get weak. After all they cost 31½p each, less than a decent treble hook and you'd change that readily if it got blunt, wouldn't you? So why expect these to last forever?

After you have used them for spinning and bait casting on a trace, why not re-use them as leger link for holding weights or swimfeeders on with? Even after that, you can always cut away the link and re-use the swivel, that will last for years. You'll get your money's worth out of them that way.

If they were any stronger they'd be more difficult to open and you would still get the stress problem creeping in sometime. I have heard some anglers condemn them, but it is usually because they have kept using them for far too long. As far as I am concerned, they are the best link swivels you can find on the British market today.

Just keep changing them - think of the fish.

Full marks for reliability.
