Young would-be anglers will learn angling skills on a one-to-one basis from Environment Agency staff and experienced anglers from Tebay Angling Club, including casting skills.
Those who already have some experience will learn about more advanced flyfishing techniques and how to protect the environment when fishing.
John Cizdyn from the Environment Agency's Fisheries Team, who will be providing expert advice on the day, said: "This is a great opportunity for young people to be encouraged to develop their own enthusiasm for the sport. We hope this new group of anglers will take great enjoyment in fishing our waterways for many years to come."
Harold Riley, from Tebay Angling Club, said: "We're delighted to be able to host this event which provides a real opportunity for young people to get to grips with a sport which is a terrific pastime. The event takes place this Sunday, 17 September at 10am on Cragg Dubb on the River Lune in the centre of Tebay, Cumbria.
