Perch Fishing - Result for Alan Stagg
Top specialist angler Alan Stagg takes a look at one of his recent big perch catches.
We are delighted that top specialist angler, Alan Stagg, will be looking in at FishingMagic on a regular basis and keeping us up to date with his results. Alan is currently targeting perch and his last outing resulted in a trio of excellent fish.
Over to Alan in his own words:
“I made the long two hour drive back to the perch lake Sunday and bagged five more, the best three weighing 2lb 13oz, 3lb 1oz and the best this 3lb 9oz fish.
All fish fell to prawn hook baits soaked in Worm and Shrimp flavour from Enterprise Tackle.
Throughout the session I introduced a mixture of chopped prawns, worms and red maggots mixed with soil to create a cloud in the clear water. I have been using a small spod to bait up with, firstly to get the range and secondly so I can bait with pin-point accuracy. The perch are certainly not scared on the disturbance it creates.
Tackle consisted on 6lb Hydro Flo mainline, on a simple 1oz running lead setup, 12 inches of 5lb Gardner Target fluorocarbon and a size 8 Gardner Wide Gape Talon Tip hook.
Due to the cloudy and the drizzly conditions the perch feed well and action came steadily through the day.”
We look forward to hearing more from Alan in due course...
