 Fixed spool
The Fixed Spool reel is the most popular type in the UK, making casting and retrieving much easier and faster. As the name suggests the spool is fixed, a bale-arm gathers the line and winds it onto the spool. Always fill the spool so that the line lies no more than a millimetre from the lip of the spool. Generally speaking, the more ball bearings the reel has the better the quality of the reel.
