Preston Innovations Stotz
More about Preston Innovations
Average Rating: 4 out of 5
No. of Reviews: 5
RRP: £4.99
Year: from 2005

Description: Stotz are a hybrid shot designed for use on higher diameter lines, but also work perfectly well on finer lines. The wide groove makes placing them on the line quick and easy. Another advantage is the increased surface area that grips the line. This prevents damage and also stops the stotz from pinging off under stress. The flat ends of Stotz also produces a neat bulk when they are grouped together.

'NOT A NEW IDEA BY A LONG "SHOT"'
Strengths:
On their own in the market place. Graded in split shot equivalent
Weaknesses:
Not a new idea at all and not innovative
Overall:
Innovative these certainly are not as ZLT bought this product to market in the late 80's/early 90's under the name of Stylers (which went up to 0.3g). In the present marketplace, they do fill a gap, but I preferred to use standard split shot and normal or half styls instead of the Stotz.

'BETTER THAN SHOT OR STYL LEADS'
Strengths:
easy to close
easy to bulk
almost tangle free
Weaknesses:
none
Overall:
once again preston innovate and others immitate.
quite a simple idea thinking about it,why did no-one think of these years ago.
the stotz close under finger pressure, something that a lot of micro shot doesn't.supplied in a neat little dispenser.the number 13 may seem rediculously mall to some anglers,i very rarely go smaller than a number 11.however i ain't bob nudd or alan scotthorne for that matter and if they fish with number 13 shot who am i to argue.
the dispnser has a scoop built into the lid so hopefully you should not spill any, when you close the lid the stotz are firmly contained.
fishing with stotz is just the same as shot, however when fishing with hemp i haven't had fish biting the stotz like they did when fishing shot.
excellent product not pricey either, compared to shot orstyl leads an should last more than a season

'ALL ANGLES COVERED!'
Strengths:
The Dispenser caters for shots sized 8 - 11 but there are now "refill" pots available in sizes 12 & 13. I have used these for 3 weeks now and in that time I have utilised the stotz on 95% of my pole rigs. The wide groove allows you to pinch the shot on with ease, even if you are all thumbs like me! Using style pincers for accuracy you can bulk the shot up perfectly. Any necessary adjustments to the rig can be dealt with in confidence, so long as you dont bite the shot on too strongly, they can be slid along the line with minimum resistence. The dispensers themselves are well designed, having a "scoop" shape at the end allows you to empty a few out into your hand and then scoop the surplus back into the dispenser.

I have had tench slam me into weeded areas and "stick ups" and not one stotz has pinged off as yet.
Weaknesses:
The only drawback from MY point of view is that the Number 13's will probably need to be put on with style pincers. A bit too nimble for me, but by no means a "fault" as such. £4.99 may seem a bit much but for me, these will last a lot longer than normal shot.
Overall:
Perfect. The answer to my prayers in the shotting stakes. Not just a gimic, the Preston Stotz have given me a lot of confidence in my rigs and shotting patterns and I will be using them herein.

'BEST SHOT IVE EVER USED'
Strengths:
as they are designed for larger diameter line they are fantastic on smaller diameters. I have been using these now for a couple of months and am realy impressed. They close onto the line easily even in the smallest size and can be slid up and down the line with ease without causing any damage at all.But they also stay put, they only move when you want them to.

The dispenser itself is realy well designed, nice and compact and easy to use even when your hands are numb with cold.
Weaknesses:
When I first opened the packet I was concerned about how shiny they were, but now theyve been exposed they have dulled down nicely.

I bit pricey, but then again I bought the four pack before I realised you can buy each size individualy ( I will mainly only be using 8's)

Overall:
Brilliant, dont be put off by the price, buy some, even if its just one size and see for yourself how good they are.
