Description: The Leeda Wychwood Sharpshooter fly rod range has been made to cater for the market trend for USA style stiffer, longer casting fly rods. 'SMOOTH POWERFUL ROD'
Strengths:
Fighting butt.
Nice and light for a 10ft rod.
Middle to tip action rod but has power in reserve for lunges of powerful fish.
10ft 3 piece easily fits in the boot of the car.
Has the power to cast a lure as well as the delicacy to cast a dry.
Weaknesses:
Only has a half wells handle which I find difficult to get used to on long casts as it feels like the rod is going to slip out of my hand
Overall:
I have the 10ft #6/7 3 piece rod and picked it up, brand new, for just over half the RRP.
Very pleased with this rod. It handles a #6 line slightly better than a #7 line, but can still cast both of them well.
The rod allows you to aerialise lots of line without collapsing on the cast and you can feel the rod load too, especially with some hauling thrown in.
Only had fish up to 3lb on it so far, but there's still lots of power left in reserve for harder fighting specimens.
I'm happy as I bought it "blind" off the 'net without being able to have a cast with it.
