Description: Centrepin Reel in the traditional spoked fashion designed after the Classic Match Aerial. 4 1/2" diameter, made from aluminium bar stock with nickel silver spokes, ratchet and adjustable drag. It Has line guard designed by John Wilson which can be removed for Wallis casting. Runs on a single ball bearing.

The Heritage, for all centrepin work from trotting for roach to stret pegging for carp.

'CLASSIC'

Strengths:
FANTASTIC LOOKS, REALLY SMOOTH TO USE. MAKES TROTTING ON A RIVER A REAL PLEASURE , HAVE EVEN USED IT ON LOCAL LAKE CATCHING CARP.

Weaknesses:
NONE OTHER THAN PRICE TAG,

Overall:
AN AWESOME REAL , MINE WAS A GIFT WHICH JOHN WILSON SIGNED THE INSIDE OF THE BOX FOR ME, SO IS EXTRA SPECIAL. A GIFT FOR A LIFETIME OF GOOD FISHING.

'A VERY GOOD REEL, HOWEVER...'

Overall:
...In slower paced riverslike the ones I fish in Essex and Suffolk, the Okuma Sheffield is I have found to be far superior as it is far more free running. I know that might seem odd but you need to try one to see for your self.

'BRILLIANT!'

Strengths:
The adjustment to allow for line to be pulled off the pin at various tension is flawless... I can even trot a fairly small stick on my local (slow-flowing!) river. The most pleasurable reel I've ever used.

Weaknesses:
None... apart from the ever-present possibility of dropping a centrepin and watching it roll along the bank before dissappearing into 11 ft of muddy water! I know, I WAS that man!!! Calling a frogman out to retrieve said reel will probably set you back another £50+ so please be careful. The extra cost was worth it though - it is still a brilliant bit of kit ;o)

Overall:
I love this reel and will hopefully be passing it down to my son too. It really IS worth the money and I look forward to running it out when conditions are favourable. Although I class myself as a 'specialist angler', for PURE aesthetic enjoyment, I can't think of a better way of spending a day than trotting for roach on a river with this reel.

'LEGENDRY BIT OF KIT!!'

Strengths:
WELL a pleasue to fish with, a suberb bit of kit and i am well pleased i put that bit of extra cash into it. Great allround performance, super smooth, very forgiving, great looks and spins in the slightest of flows.

Weaknesses:
Would have to be the cost, but saying that I have used other reels with similar RRP'S that come no where near this. Not super light but manageable.

Overall:
As Ron wrote with hos description this reel will outlast me and I hope one day to be able to pass it down to my son/daughter as something they will cheerish.
Not tried it without the lineguard yet but this would help with casting.Wonder if the gap between the metal on the guard would be better if it was bigger?

'The finest centre-pin reel I have ever used'

Strengths:
Extremely free running. Large Diameter for fast line retrieve and adjustable drag. Hand made by craftsmen.

Weaknesses:
Other than the bearing seizing, which was probably my fault, I cannot think of any weaknesses. The bearing was replaced free of charge by Masterline, the agents.

Overall:
This is without doubt a Rolls Royce amongst centre-pins. I have been using it now for nearly 6 years and look forward every year to the autums and winter months when I can get out on a fast river and do some trotting for roach.

No doubt this reel will still be catching fish when I am dead and gone. I feel privilaged to be a custodian of this extremely classy bit of engineering. You never really own items like this.

And they retain their value.
