| 'GOOD STUFF' | | Strengths: Easy to work with, takes crimping very well. ( I am a crimper, not a twister.) | | Weaknesses: I would like to see longer lengths availble on the spool. Maybe 25 or 50 metres. | | Overall: I have used the 7 strand, 28lb wire for several years now, and have never encountered a serious problem with it. I use it for both Live/dead bait and lure fishing. It is easy to use in conjunction with Drennen slim crimps. I have not had a trace fail on me yet (Loads of clips and swivels have failed on me , but never the trace wire or crimps). I use it exclusively, without problem for lure fishing with lures up to about 2 ounces. It has never let me down in service. I cast in the region of 350 times per session with lures anywhere from 6-75 grammes in weight. It is a useful material to use for dead/live baiting traces, being reasonably supple. I have also found that it helps to present both live and deadbaits just how I want them to be presented. It works well as a component in the simplest of predator rigs, from the good old "float ledger, confidence deadbait rig," right through "up traces," to complicated "bait shield livebait pulley rigs," that I utilise for long range live/deadbaiting. Overall this is an excellent wire, that I recommend without reservation. |
