'A CLASSIC'
Strengths:
Engineering simplicity, extremely robust, easy to strip, Will cast both large and small lures, great for dead and livebaiting too.
Weaknesses:
Absolutely none
Overall:
I have been using small multipliers (baitcasting) reels for nearly 45 years, and without any doubt, Ambassadeurs are the best.

This reel will be still around and fishing, (hopefully) when I am long gone

'THE DOGS BOLLOCKS (55001 C3)'
Strengths:
very strong reel easy to use and maintain
Weaknesses:
none yet had it over 4 months now
Overall:
after trying a number of cheaper bait-casting reels for jerkbaiting have now found the perfect reel well worth the money. don't wast money on other less quality reels like i did

'perfect for a beginner to multiplier fishing.'
Strengths:
level wind puts line evenly on the spool without you moving the line from side to side.,dosent have to be maintained regulary.left hand model avaliable.
Weaknesses:
heavy, worm bar and level wind slightly reduces casting distance.
Overall:
A great multiplyer for all sorts of sea fishing.

'THE LURE FISHERMAN'S PERFECT PARTNER (6501C3LH)'
Strengths:
An absolutely solid piece of kit that won't break in a hurry. Even if something does go, you can replace the parts at your local tackle shop and it's easy to strip and clean/fix yourself.
The line lay is brilliant for lure fishing. You don't have to worry about levelling the line on the retrieve. It's a chuck and wind kind of affair. The Anti-reverse means you contact the lure striaght away, which means you can impart the tiniest movements or the most immediate lunges/jerks etc. The brake system is faultless. Nice smooth casts, even for first time multi users. It practically teaches you how to feather the spool. The drag is pretty sweet as well. Nice smooth delivery and no intermittant slips. Basically a joy to work with.
Weaknesses:
The Anti-reverse mechanism can fail in very cold weather. Grease in the bearing can solidify which means the spool and handle rotate backwards. This can totally ruin a days luring. The spool release button sometimes sticks (rare) and a dextrous finger nail may be required to re-engage the retrieve. These are minor problems though.
Overall:
I love it to death. It doesn't feel wonky or destined for the bin anytime soon and that's working it pretty hard. The finish is sleek and positively sexy if you ask me. If you want a reel that's going to last a lifetime, this is probably it.

'VERY PLEASED'
Strengths:
As a beginner to multipliers, must admit that this one, loaded with braid, is pretty "idiot proof". I purchased mine new through e bay and worked out to £58.99 including P&P which was an absolute bargain!
Weaknesses:
I use the 5501 and the brake adjustment is a little fiddly to get to, behind the star drag.
Overall:
I'd previously tried a cheap multiplier loaded with mono and it wasn't much fun to use. This item is well built and feels good. Have only had one session so far and it was more casting practice than fishing (ok I blanked!) so really looking forward to the next. All I need to do is learn to control the casts a little better and stop the lure from hitting the water too hard - any tips would be welcome!
