'GREAT BIT OF KIT IF YOU GET IT CONVERTED'
Strengths:
it has good fish detection at all depths with a nice clear screen
Weaknesses:
limited range but this can be overcome if you get the unit converted difficult to fit into a bait boat.
Overall:
very good unit but needs converting if intend you use it at range good value for money you can pick them up on ebay for around £70 direct from the USA

'ANOTHER STRING TO THE BOW'
Strengths:
Clear and concise on screen data. Simple operation. Surface water temp.
Weaknesses:
None, so far, within it's specification. It does what it says on the tin. No carry case, a pity. A Badger Int. dead bait cooler wallet fits it perfectly though.
Overall:
Just recently purchased RF15e model. Worked really well on canals. It will not replace my marker on larger waters, but work with it, I believe.

'SUPER BIT OF KIT'
Strengths:
key information presented well on a large screen
Weaknesses:
Range and weight, too many big batteries in an otherwise light unit
Overall:
Indispensable for a tench angler where range is not normally an issue

'A USEFUL BIT OF KIT. TREMENDOUS FOR MAPPING OUT NEW SWIMS.'
Strengths:
Easy to use. Idiot proof.
Robust, simple to read screen info.
Quick to set up and use.
Weaknesses:
No bag provided to protect/carry unit.
Protective film on display screen is a bitch to remove.
Overall:
A very useful and simple to operate unit.
Ideal for finding fish holding features and locating fish.

'USEFULL SOME OF THE TIME'
Strengths:
easy to use
Weaknesses:
useless at any range on choppy water
Overall:
good for rivers and small lakes. But still end up useing my marker rod when fishing my local windswept large gravel pit at anything more than thirty yards range.

'OK FOR SMALL WATERS'
Strengths:
Easy to read in sunlight. Good readout of features
Weaknesses:
limited range. For margins ok. The advertised range is 100 feet. I am only able to get a reading at 50 feet. It helps if you elevate the unit on a bucket ect. Also if you have alot of wind and there are waves, leave the unit at home!
Overall:
Ok for short range plumming. I would use a feature rod for anything beyond 50 feet. And a lot of us fish farther than that. Maybe Humminbird will improve this unit in the future. Otherwise think twice before you spend your cash!

'EFFECTIVE AND RELIABLE'
Strengths:
Easy to use, gives very accurate depth measurement.
Weaknesses:
Okay in choppy water, but does not like waves. Performs best in calm water. Gives no indication of bottom hardness; does not readily indicate presence of weed.
Overall:
With fresh batteries, and with receiver unit sideways-on to the water (left-hand side of unit facing water), I get about 50m range - much more than the advertised 100ft.

An excellent "electronic plummet" for depth evaluation.

'IDEAL FOR LOCATING SHOALS WHEN PIKE FISHING'
Strengths:
Accuratley shows depth, shelves, drop offs and of course shoals. Easy to check if fish have moved in over a pre-baited area.
Weaknesses:
Strong wind and waves makes the screen 'drunk'
Overall:
Its performance is generally better than I expected when feature finding.
