'REPORT HERE ON VARIANT - SALT TRAVEL BEACH ROD.'
Strengths:
Very nicely presented and beautifully made.
Works like a stiffish two piece.
My home workaday rod is an ABU 484 Zoom bought second hand in 1980.
The Shakespeare commits to the job in hand very well, liking to cast around a 150gm sinker + bait, however Southern Aegean waters fish differently from UK., waters and a 150gm sinker is the heaviest shore weight I like to use.
Weaknesses:
The Shakespeare acts in a much more demanding, powerful way to the ABU and doesn't like light sinkers and baits that the ABU., is happy to cast. Don't get me wrong it will cast lighter weights but not as sweetly or in an undemanding a manner as the 484 Zoom.
I am currently using a Shakespeare '60' Salt Surf 11 bearing fixed spool reel which is ideal; occasionally I get brave and use an ABU 6000 (Circa 1975) however the rod is entirely happy with either; my preference is for the FS., reel. The Salt Surf reel casts 150gms superbly and depending on the swing, short or long distance as the caster desires.
I find the ABU 7000 and Okuma Magnetex reels too big for comfort.
Overall:
Would I be without this fabulous rod? No certainly not; putting it simply it's a fabulous tool, aircraft, extra charge cheater that suits my purpose and fits easily into my flight hold bag along with the Shakespeare Travel Boat and Expedition Spinning rods. Thank you Bill (Shakespeare), ti's the same guy isn't it?

'AMAZING !'
Strengths:
Quality build with fuji guides, very stiff & resonsive blank that does not flop about like cheap rods when under load.
Feels as good as any top brand beach rod!
Weaknesses:
None as yet!
Overall:
This rod is as good as a anything I have ever used including centry.
Shakespeare have really hit the mark with this one, this rod feels great and at this price you won't get better.
Tackle tarts look out, there's more to a rod than the name on it!
